Portfolio, programme, tranche, project, stage and folder are all separate sub-classes in cattaDoc, each with its own states and events. These define the project business processes
The project business processes are based on the best practice processes described in PRINCE2® and MSP®.

The process flow for a project:

The grey boxes and black text reflect the proper PRINCE2 project flow whereas the blue boxes and blue text are possible extensions in the cattaDoc project flow, tailored to specific needs - in fact the Danish public it project model.
Stages are created as part of the project flow, as indicated by the dotted red arrows.
